2016 Toyota Tundra - Washington Auto Mall - Washington, PA

The Tundra is Toyota’s full-size pickup. For model year 2016 every Tundra trim got an upgraded electronics interface with the upper trim levels getting a larger gas tank and standard integrated trailer brake control. The Tundra comes in three cab styles: regular cab, extended "double" cab and "CrewMax" crew cab. Each cab not only has plenty of stretch out legroom but also offers the pleasure of a reclining seatback.

The Tundra’s double cab is one of the most roomy extended cabs on the market.  The CrewMax really can handle a crew comfortably and the regular cab sets the luxury bar for the segment. Resale value for the Tundra is best in the segment.

For all trims some of the standard features include: dual zone air conditioning with individual temperature controls for driver and passenger, AM/FM and MP3 capable CD player, six speakers, SiriusXM Radio, an auxiliary audio input jack for your own portable devices and 12V auxiliary power outlets. Optional stereo upgrades were of course available.

For 2016 some of the options packaging were slightly reconfigured. The SR5 and 1794 Editions got a lightly modified front end styling and the 1794 can now be equipped with the TRD Off-Road package.

There are two wheelbases and three bed lengths, the 5.5-foot short bed, 6.5-foot standard bed and 8.1-foot long bed. The Tundra bed is a hard worker with a solid rear suspension up to the task of pretty much any hauling job you can throw at it.

Depending on which seating layout you opt for, the Double Cab and CrewMax can seat 5 with buckets up front or 6 with the traditional front bench. The regular cab seats three adults comfortably with its expansive bench. Depending on which configuration you choose, there are six trim levels for the Tundra: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition and TRD Pro. The availability of some options or packages can vary based on the region in which you live.

The available Tundra trim levels for 2016 were wide-ranging with options from the Tundra 2WD, with the two-wheel drive regular cab truck, a standard bed and a V6 engine being what might be considered the base model up to the top of the line TRD Pro for off road and the work horse Platinum trims. And within those trims various option packages were on offer. Fitted with the TRD Off-Road package, the 2016 Toyota Tundra Limited is one of the more capable light-duty trucks off road.

Note that There are three engines available for the Toyota Tundra 2WD: a 4.0-liter V6 engine; next up is a 4.6-liter aluminum i-FORCE V8 engine  and the top of the line 5.7-liter aluminum i-FORCE V8.

The Tundra’s amazing turning radius, ample and modern interior space, comfortable seating and tow capacity all add up to make it a pleasure to drive in city, country and off road. With the 2016 Toyota Tundra, you are getting a powerful, roomy, reliable, serious working truck that will never let you down.

The updates to the 2016 RAV4 added creative touches, an enhanced exterior styling and a more distinctive overall look and impression. The sleeker front fascia modernizes its bearing, it’s cavernous interior and low load door enhances usability and the variety of Toyota Safety packages introduced bring peace of mind. Every 2016 Toyota RAV4 included antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, full-length airbags, a driver knee airbag, a rearview camera and an integrated driver blind-spot mirror. The 60/40-split seatbacks provide a large amount of recline adjustment. The 2016 Toyota RAV4 is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 176 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard, and all-wheel drive is optional.

The EPA estimates that the front-wheel-drive RAV4 returns 26 mpg combined (23 city/30 highway) while the all-wheel-drive version returns 25 mpg combined (22 city/29 highway).

Standard on the LE: 17-inch steel wheels, an integrated driver blind-spot mirror, rear privacy glass, roof rails, air-conditioning, a rearview camera, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver seat, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a 60/40-split folding and reclining rear seat, a 6.1-inch touchscreen interface (Entune), Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, a USB port and a media player interface.

Honda Pilot

Some have said the Pilot is the epitome of a spacious and comfortable third-row SUV. Some have said the Pilot is the perfect non-minivan-van. Everyone says the Pilot is a refined and well-built SUV that truly shines in long distance travel. Whether you’re taking a day trip to our local covered bridges or skipping over the state line to take in the sites along the Ohio River, you cannot go wrong if you’re riding in your Pilot.

After a surprisingly long period of only minor changes, the Pilot was finally completely redesigned for 2016.  Styling is totally new, inside and out. The crossover adds a long list of new features and options, along with some powertrain updates.  It is looking and being reviewed as one of the best family-friendly third-row SUVs money can buy.

Despite its large size, the 2016 Pilot managed to shed up to 300 pounds from the previous model years; much of that weight saving comes from an all-new 3.5 liter V-6 engine and available new 9-speed transmission. The Pilot's fuel-economy rating is excellent, coming in at 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Not much difference between that and a minivan - and you’re riding so much more stylishly. Drivers have even reported up to as high as 28.6 mpg on the interstate.

At speeds between 40 and 80 miles per hour the Pilot shines; quiet, smooth and equipped with refinement and quality similar to an Acura. The Pilot really gives a sense of being constructed with care and a sense of excellence just a notch above other third-row SUVs, it is a Honda after all.

Owners have been highly impressed with the Pilot's driving experience, praising virtually everything from the engine power to the ride quality and handling. You will find plenty of power under the hood without a lot of engine noise and with an impressive lack of body roll when going around corners. Though the interior has been the emphasis in this redesign, the styling of the exterior has drawn high marks.  The boxy look of previous iterations has been replaced by a more dynamic, modern appearance. On the outside, the new crossover is about 3.5 inches longer than previous models; the added space translates into more cargo room on the inside.

The first reaction when checking out the Pilot interior is that it feels like a nice minivan. That means spaciousness and comfort; the two things that matter most in a family SUV where you're looking to be riding for long periods of time. No better compliment for a car in this class.

The functional controls are handsome and rather upscale.  The control layout and the push-button transmission frees up room in the center console.  And, about that center console.  Honda calls it a Tech Locker, you can hide and store your purse, laptop, phone, and other devices. When it’s closed, the compartment acts as an awesome little shelf with easy access for the front passengers.

The numerous bins and holders on each door, up front, plus second- and third-row storage, make road trips clutter-free! Everything now has a place. Another of the nice new features is the push-button second-row seat, which allows easy access to the third row. So easy the kids can do it themselves, even the third row is easy to fold up and down.

With seating for up to 8 people, the five USB charging ports throughout the cabin will be sorely needed. There’s also a standard 110-volt household-style plug for even more power options.  And no one will have to fight for a cup holder with twice as many as seats.

Interior room is the one area where vans have typically held the advantage over SUVs, so the Pilot with its cavernous - and clever - interior space for both passengers and cargo eliminates that holdback. Where you might detect it falling a little short of the minivan is the absence of sliding doors and the lowered floor.  If that is a non-issue for you, then there is nothing to hold you back from making this vehicle your extraordinarily viable family-car alternative to a minivan.

As for warranty length, the Pilot offers 3 years or 36,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper coverage, along with 5 years or 60,000 miles of powertrain protection.
