Some call the Sienna the Camry of minivans, quite a compliment. The Sienna embodies the reputation for reliability and durability all Toyotas enjoy. It’s gorgeous, roomy, comfortable, high-quality transportation. The Sienna appeals to a wide range of families looking for a comfortable, functional, classic and reliable vehicle that can carry lots of people and gear with a low operating cost.
Up-to-date in terms of infotainment and connectivity, quiet interior, comfortable, roomy, versatile, there’s even an intercom, Driver Easy Speak, and a Blu-Ray entertainment display that keeps the kids busy.
A 296-hp 3.5-liter V-6 paired to an eight-speed automatic drives the front or, in a minivan exclusive, all four wheels - a bonus when the weather turns bad.
It has room for seven or eight passengers, or five when the third row seats are folded down and 87 cubic feet of cargo. With the second row removed, two people can camp in it quite comfortably. It’s easy to get in and out of, plenty of space to move around almost while standing, low step for older adults to take with ease, and of course those large sliding doors (both sides!) for moving or picking up large items like furniture. Even with all seats in place, there is sprawl-out room, seats are amply adult-sized with unobstructed views through the Sienna’s big windows. You won’t hear complaints of blind spots in this vehicle.
A mild refresh in 2015 brought increased greater use of LED exterior lighting on the upper trim levels, but most of the updates were presented in the Sienna’s spacious cabin. A revamped instrument panel moved the HVAC controls closer to the driver; more soft-touch surfaces were utilized, and there was more attention paid to Noise, Vibration and Harshness (NVH) reduction with a stiffer structure that made the Sienna’s interior quieter. A backup camera is also now standard.
Roomy, comfortable and offered in several different trim levels, the Toyota Sienna minivan is an excellent choice for families.
Although towing isn’t among Sienna’s selling points, it’s the only minivan in America with available all-wheel drive, and seen in the light of severe-weather operation it could be. And it never hurts to have the ability to pull something if the need every rises. Definitely one of Sienna’s selling points is Toyota’s Smart Stop emergency auto-braking technology that puts the Sienna one step ahead of the competition for safety.
Minivans are for those who want room, easy sliding-side-door access, people, groceries and pet-loving convenience. The spacious and comfortable 2016 Toyota Sienna is among the more evolved minivans, with its energetic 3.5-liter V-6, nimble-shifting six-speed automatic, choice of front or all-wheel drive, four LATCH child-safety-seat anchor locations, fold-into-the-floor third-row seats, and a long list of standard and optional features.
