The innovative, best-in-class fuel economy Honda Accord Hybrid is back for 2017. It’s roomy, has up to the minute safety features, more power, solid handling and quick acceleration. You don’t have to give up a single thing to go hybrid when you go with the genuinely enjoyable Honda.
The 2017 Accord hybrid reflects Honda’s long-term corporate move to electrified vehicles with its expanding range of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, fuel-cell models, and battery electrics. Honda is targeting 2030 for having the majority of its global fleet of vehicles electrified.
The 2017 Hybrid gains a variety of updates that will augment its brilliant appeal. The improved gasoline-electric powertrain now generates a substantial increase of 16 hp bringing it to a total of 212 hp, as well as returning even better mileage. Battery size has even trimmed making for more room in the trunk.
Honda did make some updates to the standard Accord last year and those are reflected in the Hybrid trim: updated exterior styling, revised suspension tuning, new interior trim and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration for the optional touchscreen interface; all Hybrids come standard with the Accord's Honda Sensing package that includes a variety of driver assistance and safety features, such as lane departure intervention and automatic emergency braking.
The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan is presented in three trim levels:
Standard equipment for the Base Hybrid includes: 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, LED taillights, keyless ignition and entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, an eight-way power driver seat with two-way power lumbar, a 7.7-inch central dashboard infotainment display, active noise cancellation, Bluetooth, a rearview camera and a six-speaker sound system with a USB media interface, Pandora integration and an auxiliary audio jack.
The EX-L adds: an auto-dimming rearview mirror, driver memory settings, a four-way power front passenger seat, heated front seats and leather upholstery; for tech you’ll find this trim level also adds a 7 inch touchscreen which is separate from the 7.7-inch infotainment display, robust smartphone integration via Honda Link, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; an upgraded sound system with seven speakers, satellite and HD radio and an additional USB port.
The top of the line Touring adds: LED headlights with automatic high-beam control, a sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, heated rear seats and a navigation system.
All are powered with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine hitched up to a pair of electric motors that are fed by a trunk-mounted lithium-ion battery pack. Total system output for the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid is 212 horsepower, and it's delivered to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission.
You’ll pay a little more for your Hybrid as compared to the standard gasoline powered Accord, but if you’re determined to try out the low carbon way of life, the Honda Accord Hybrid is the top choice.
