2017 Toyota Sienna

If you hop in and take a test drive, you might be surprised with the power, ride quality, performance and design of both the interior and exterior of the new 2017 Toyota Sienna. For 2017, the Toyota Sienna receives an upgraded V6 engine and new eight-speed transmission. The exterior design is gorgeous and all the latest technology accouterments are to be found inside including the most up to date safety features.  The layout improvements made for 2015 are maintained and improved including soft, modern touches, higher quality materials and a luxurious, closer-in interactive dashboard design.

With lengthened interior space, the Sienna holds up to 8 passengers in exceeding comfort; the Sienna maintains its all-wheel drive option which is an exclusive feature for the minivan segment, offered on the LE, XLE and Limited trims.

The 8-passenger layout comes with a 40/20/20-split second-row bench with a sliding center section that slips forward and back and can be entirely removed and stowed within the van.

On the 7-passenger layout, you’ll find second-row Captain's Chairs with clever available extendable footrests.  The seats also slide much farther than those of most competitors, increasing lounging comfort by a huge margin. Cargo space checks in at a yawning 150 cubic feet when the second-row seats are removed.

The Toyota Sienna V6 3.5-liter engine packs 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. The 8-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous 6-speed and front-wheel drive is standard on all models.

Together, the updated direct-injection V6 engine and new 8-speed transmission give the Sienna improved mileage and performance.

On the tech front, all Sienna trims offer a touchscreen interface which has an easy-to-understand menu hierarchy, a built-in navigation system and a suite of smartphone-connected services; a rear-seat entertainment system is available which features a split-screen monitor that allows two different media, a movie and a video game for example, to play at the same time. There are also abundant storage spaces designed around the interior.

The 2017 Toyota Sienna minivan comes in five main trim levels: L (base), LE, SE, XLE and Limited. The SE, XLE, and Limited are further available in Premium sub-trims. The LE and XLE come in 7- and 8-passenger configurations, the L and Limited versions are 7-passenger only, and the SE is 8-passenger only. All trims come standard with front-wheel drive, but the LE, XLE, and Limited can also be had with the all-wheel drive.

Even the lower trim levels on the Sienna are well equipped with plush, high-quality fabric and materials, technology and safety.  The higher-end models get leather along with simulated wood cabin accents. Materials quality is excellent for the segment and the dash design is modern and attractive across the trims.

For safety, standard on all Toyota Sienna models: front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a driver-side knee airbag, a front-passenger seat cushion airbag, active front head restraints, antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, and a rearview camera.

Available safety features: blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors, and a forward collision warning system.

The 2017 Toyota Sienna received a 5-star rating for overall safety performance, with 4 stars for total front-crash protection and 5 stars for total side-crash protection. In tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Sienna earned a top score of “Good” for in the moderate-overlap front-impact, side-impact, roof strength and head restraint tests. It received the second-highest rating of Acceptable in the IIHS test for small-overlap front-impact protection.
