The midsize Toyota Tacoma has a well-deserved reputation for good looks, reliability, durability and rugged off-road capabilities. It is available with two cabs, the extended Access Cab and the Double Cab. Access Cab models come exclusively with a 73.7-inch long bed. Double Cab models are offered with either a 60.5-inch short bed or the long bed extended-wheelbase model.
The Tacoma family provides up to a 6,800-pound maximum towing capacity along with that handsome exterior. The 2017 Toyota Tacoma comes with either a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine or a 3.5-liter V6. Configurations are available for both rear-wheel-drive and 4-wheel-drive configurations. All rear wheel Tacoma trims get a 6-speed automatic transmission, and 4-wheel comes with either the automatic or one of two manual transmissions; 5 speeds for the four-cylinder engine, 6 speeds for the V6.
Toyota has lavished plenty of attention on the Tacoma in recent years; beyond its stellar reputation for reliability, the Tacoma enjoys the industry's best resale value and it's an incredibly hard working, rough-and-tumble truck.
When it comes to safety, Toyota has the Tacoma up to speed. All Tacoma trims come with active front headrests, front-seat side airbags, driver and passenger knee airbags and full-length side curtain airbags, as well as traction and stability control, antilock brakes and more. Unlike most pickup trucks, the Tacoma still uses drum brakes at the rear; a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is optional on TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road models and standard on the Tacoma Limited and TRD Pro.
The Tacoma is offered in five trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro. The Tacoma has so much to offer and so many different trims and configurations and options – the current trims Toyota has on offer even come with sub-trim categories! Come in to Washington Auto Mall to speak with one of our Toyota Tacoma experts to find the right truck for you. Just to scratch the surface:
Standard on the SR trim: 16-inch steel wheels, a cargo-bed rail system with fixed and adjustable tie-downs, a bedliner, a sliding rear window, power windows and locks, air-conditioning, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, a GoPro windshield mount, a rearview camera, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, voice controls, Siri Eyes Free, a 6.1-inch touchscreen interface, a six-speaker audio system with a CD player, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack.
The SR5 model adds the available SR Convenience package plus foglights, chrome exterior accents, variable intermittent wipers, rear privacy glass, a color trip computer, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever, satellite radio and the proprietary Scout GPS Link navigation app. The SR5 can be configured with various other trim options on top of those packages including exterior design elements, tech, sound and safety features.
Tacoma 4WDs have low-range gearing and manual-transmission; TRD Off-Road models also get a special mode to start the truck in gear without depressing the clutch, eliminating clutch slippage and rollback if you’re stalled when going uphill.
The amazing TRD Off-Road model adds its own rugged body trim, special 16-inch alloy wheels, Bilstein suspension dampers and nixes the chin spoiler for improved off-road capability.
The TRD Sport model adds LED daytime running lights, unique exterior trim, 17-inch alloy wheels, power-sliding rear privacy glass on the Double Cab, sport-tuned suspension dampers, a bed-mounted 120-volt power outlet, keyless entry and ignition on the automatic transmission, a wireless phone charger, special upholstery, auto-dimming rearview mirror and the optional upgraded SR5 infotainment bundle.
TRD Sport options include a Premium and Technology package with an upgraded JBL stereo with a subwoofer, among other features.
